BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Rodents abundance evaluation:

high

Breeding conditions:

At least one pair of Grey Plovers were breeding and having chicks. I did not try to find the chicks but the birds were alarming very load as I walked by. In the wetland I found many other waders: 25 Pectoral Sandpipers, 5 Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, 10 Little Stints, 5 Curlew Sandpipers, 10 Ringed Plovers. All birds were adults, with an exception of 7 Knots. Pomarine and Long-tailed Skuas commonly overflowed the tundra, as single birds or in loose groups of 5-10 birds.

Rodent dynamics:

At the area was rich with signs of lemmings and other people even had the opportunities to see live animals. I did not encounter any lemming and can not tell which species they had seen.
